About Malakouti Architects

Our History

Malakouti Architects began in 1991 as Artech Incorporated. The firm was founded by Mohsen Malakouti with one primary motivation: unfettered artistic expression. As an architect, developer + general contractor, Mohsen envisioned a firm where unmatchable designs were paired with a guaranteed ability to make them work. From the beginning, the natural environment was refreshed with each project building into sloping terrain + around trees rather than leveling and bulldozing. Durable, energy conscious materials were used in every project, making Artech one of Nashville’s forerunners of Green + Sustainable Design. In addition to being an environmental leader, Artech was also the pioneer of modern contemporary design in residential developments in Nashville. In 2005, the firm transitioned from Artech Incorporated to MACS Development Group + Malakouti Architects. The transition enabled them to focus all their energy on development, architecture + design, backed by a name as distinct as their work. Today, they are internationally acclaimed for their work in both residential and commercial design and construction.
